Prospects for constraining the Yukawa gravity with pulsars around Sagittarius A*

چکیده

The discovery of radio pulsars (PSRs) around the supermassive black hole (SMBH) in our Galactic Center (GC), Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*), will have significant implications for tests gravity. In this paper, we predict restrictions on parameters Yukawa gravity by timing a pulsar Sgr with variety orbital parameters. Based realistic accuracy times arrival (TOAs), $\sigma_{\rm TOA}=100\,\mu{\rm s}$, and using number 960 TOAs 20-yr observation, numerical simulations show that PSR-SMBH system improve current when range interaction varies between $10^{1}$-$10^{4}\,{\rm AU}$, it can limit graviton mass to be $m_g \lesssim 10^{-24}\,{\rm eV}/c^2$.

Prospects for constraining quantum gravity dispersion with near term observations

We discuss the prospects for bounding and perhaps even measuring quantum gravity effects on the dispersion of light using the highest energy photons produced in gamma ray bursts measured by the Fermi telescope. These prospects are brigher than might have been expected as in the first 10 months of operation Fermi has reported so far eight events with photons over 100MeV seen by its Large Area Te...

Constraining Brans-dicke Gravity with Accreting Millisecond Pulsars in Ultracompact Binaries

The five accreting, millisecond X-ray pulsars in ultracompact binaries that were recently discovered with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer provide excellent candidates for constraining the deviations from general relativity described by the Brans-Dicke parameter ωBD. I calculate the expected rate of change of the orbital periods of these binaries and discuss the prospects of constraining ωBD to ...

Constraining the Accretion Rate onto Sagittarius a Using Linear Polarization

Two possible explanations for the low luminosity of the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy are (1) an accretion rate of order the canonical Bondi value, but a very low radiative efficiency for the accreting gas or (2) an accretion rate much less than the Bondi rate. Both models can explain the broad-band spectrum of the Galactic Center. We show that they can be distinguished us...

5 Constraining Inverse Curvature Gravity with Supernovae

We show that the current accelerated expansion of the Universe can be explained without resorting to dark energy. Models of generalized modified gravity, with inverse powers of the curvature can have late time accelerating attractors without conflicting with solar system experiments. We have solved the Friedman equations for the full dynamical range of the evolution of the Universe. This allows...

Constraining inverse-curvature gravity with supernovae.

We show that models of generalized modified gravity, with inverse powers of the curvature, can explain the current accelerated expansion of the Universe without resorting to dark energy and without conflicting with solar system experiments. We have solved the Friedmann equations for the full dynamical range of the evolution of the Universe and performed a detailed analysis of supernovae data in...
